Body butter can be so incredible to use. It feels rich and soft on your skin, and it can go a long way towards battling dryness while soothing sensitivity. Of course there are lots of body butters being sold in stores, but you can also make your own at home. As long as you have a food processor or a high-powered blender, you can make either of these two organic body butters.
Almond and Lavender Body Butter
Made with almond oil and lavender essential oils, this body butter has a soothing but subtle scent. The key oil used to make it is coconut oil, which is known for being soothing to the skin. Shea butter is also included in order to add to the creaminess. Although the recipe calls for all organic ingredients, you can use a non-organic version if that's what's available.
To make about 6 ounces of body butter, you'll need:
Place the coconut oil, shea butter, and almond oil in a saucepan. Allow these oils to melt over low heat. Turn the heat off as soon as the oils are melted. Stir in the lavender essential oil. Pour the mixture into a heat-resistant container, and place it in the refrigerator.
Once the mixture has solidified, remove it from the fridge and put it into your blender or food process. Process until whipped and fluffy. Transfer to a jar for storage, and enjoy.
Eucalyptus Spearmint Body Butter
With the bold scents of eucalyptus and spearmint, this body butter is perfect for mornings when you need a little something extra to get you going. If you want a subtler scent, simply use less of the essential oils.
To make about 6 ounces of body butter, you need:
Place the coconut oil, shea butter, and olive oil in a saucepan. Heat on low until melted. Remove from heat, and stir in the essential oils. Allow the mixture to solidify in the refrigerator, and then transfer it to a food processor or blender. Whip until fluffy. Transfer to a jar for storage, and enjoy!
